Pelargoniums always good value in the garden

Many Pelargoniums bloom all year long, even in late autum or Djeran season in Perth, when most roses are bare and dormant and most flowering bulbs are just starting to grow, and some are a perpetual wonder just for their coloured or scented leaves.

Below is probably the Lady of Spain zonal Pelargonium.
The zonal below is a very robust and free flowering common zonal grown from a cutting taken from behind a MacDonalds. Can hand extreme heat and neglect. This lovely variegated leaf Pelargonium is Grey Monk. It can survive the most savage summers, which is surprising as variegated leaf plants are thought to be frail and delicate. I recommend it for its beautiful leaves and survival instinct. In winter leaves can take on extra red colouring.
Below is another very resilient and beautiful Pelargonium with fancy leaves. This one is Ann Tilling, with a softer salmon colour in its flowers. Recommended.
Below is an ivy-leaf Pelargonium, which is a climbing, trailing plant. This lovely variety with the green centre is I believe Zeebra Lee.
This one below with the beautiful leaves is a Stellar Pelargonium, Vancouver Centennial. It is a small plant ideal as a pot plant.
Another Pelargonium with fancy leaves below, Mrs Strang, a favourite. Has salmon coloured flowers, but grown for the delightful leaves.
Below is a favourite of the scented leaf Pelagoniums, Mabel Grey, with a strong citron or lemon scent in crushed leaves. Pink flowers in spring.
A Lara Viking hybrid species Pelargonium, very robust and easy to propagate from cutting.
More Lady of Spain below.
If you can't find the pelargoniums you seek at your local garden retailer or hardware warehouse (check the cottage garden small plant range), there are people who breed propagate, collect and sell pelagoniums, and we have a pelargonium society. It is a tradition that garden plant societies hold a big sale day in South Perth a couple of times a year, which is a great opportunity for collectors.

I like to share cuttings and surplus new plants with friends and other gardeners. I find fellow gardeners make some of the best friends.
